Drafts for the Movie Poster!

These are the edits me and Stephanie did today during lesson while Mr Earl wasn't in, we really liked them and thought they worked well. The first and last one work particularly well, it is seen to be quite comic book based, therefore anything can happen cause it is not seen to be in 'the real world' almost as if what happens is impossible but in actual fact is happening.

After playing around with more filters me and Stephanie decided we really like this, the black and white makes it look very eerie, and the grain affect it gives is very spin chilling. They way it presented is very questionable as it could be telling the audience the past, the future or where our story begins. Therefore our audience will not know what is coming.

This is our final poster with the same image and title on 'Red Woods' however it now features the slogan 'if you come down to the woods today...' which is very ironic as it is a children's song which our film is sort of linked to (children's myths), and also the fact that our film is actually located in the woods. The use of the ellipses is very significant as it indicates to the audience that there is more of the story to be told and that it could be anything.
Even though our other images were a lot brighter than our final piece, we still think that going with the darker tone for the image in our final piece because it is more eerie. We choose to have the text in red as it has the connotations of blood, horror and death. This is one of the main codes and conventions we believe fulfil its fuctions to make the genre of horror successful. We started we clear text at the beginning of the title and for it to get more blurred towards the end so show how our film is going to be, it will have a clear story line at the beginning however towards the end you will not believe who is the 'killer' who is going to die etc.
Our poster also features Liam, one of our main actors; he is the main feature on the poster; me and stephanie particularly believe him being quite paled skin has made it even more affective, as it is a well known fact humans go pale when they die and it makes him look quite ghost like on the picture which is really affective in my opinion. Also his skin continues the juxtaposition of the image as he is the symobolisation of innocence whereas the his surroundings is quite dark and connotes evil.

  1. Not bad, image wise. However, take a look at some actual movie posters. Think about what else you need to put on there. I've posted some examples on my blog.
